SICON for high-voltage applications
Now SICON is also available for high-voltage applications: the special design for large cross-sections of up to 1600mm² is ideally suitable for use in high-voltage joints – e.g. in conjunction with PFISTERER slip-on joints type IXOSIL MSA.
During the building boom of the nineties and the accompanying extension of the grid, compression was the more economical solution for manufacturers of many connections with the same cross-section. In terms of versatility, compression connectors have, however, always had to fit.
Now that grids are being maintained or extended, screw technology is coming into its own. This is because screw technology makes it easy to handle a wide range of different cable cross-sections in an economical way. Especially when installing high-voltage cables, the cost ratio for the expensive compression tools, which can be used for large cross-sections, and their relatively low use frequency is particularly unfavourable. Screw technology has a positive effect on bottom-line results: the additional expense for the fast connector is quickly compensated for when you take into account the investment in presses and compression tools, as well as the costs of maintaining this equipment.
